About us
• Why should I buy from you?
Products
Welcome to eFrame - the mega-site for frames, mounts and mirrors.
Please see our contact page for full details on how to get in touch.
• Who do you supply?
We are happy to receive orders from companies, organisations, government departments and individuals.
• What are your opening hours?
We are open 09:00 to 17:00 Mon-Fri. The web site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Do you have a shop?
No. We are a manufacturing company, and our factory is in Cambridgeshire.
• What is your privacy policy?
We take privacy very seriously. You can find our privacy policy here.
• How do I measure my picture?
Pricing and delivery
See our measuring guide
• How deep are your frames?
Each moulding (the material from which we make the frame) has what's called a "rebate depth". This simply means the inside dimension from the front (where the glazing sits) to the back.
Rebate depths vary from 5mm to 29mm. The exact dimension can be found by looking at the web page for that one moulding and
reading the description. The rebate depth is the last line.
• I have an item to frame that is quite thick. Can I do this with your frames?
If you wish to frame something which is thicker than paper, then you need to make sure that the rebate depth is at least 7mm bigger AND you need to tell us in the "Further Instructions" section of the checkout page. If you want one or more mounts in the frame also, then add 1.5mm x the number of mounts to the 7mm. By way of example, say you had something to frame that is 6mm thick. Just add 6mm + 7mm to find the rebate depth you need - in this case 13mm or more. If you also wanted a mount, then it would be 6mm + 1.5mm + 7mm = 14.5mm or more. The easiest way to find deep rebated frames is to use the Fast Frame Finder and choose the appropriate options.
See here
• Are your frames easy to put together?
All frames are supplied assembled. However, hanging fixings will need to be attached (if we were to do this during manufacture then it would be difficult to fit your artwork).
Aluminium frames, although fully assembled, require you to remove one moulding section in order to fit your artwork. This is a simple operation requiring a small screwdriver.
• I want to frame a painting that is already on a stretched canvas. Can you help?
Firstly, see here
• What size is an A4 frame!?
However, if you have a stretcher frame, you are at liberty to choose a picture frame that has a rebate depth shallower than the depth of the stretcher. If you decide to do this please process your order online and state clearly in the box on the checkout page entitled "Further information" that you need spring clips to fasten your stretcher in place, and also please let us know the depth of the stretcher frame. At present, we are happy to supply these free of charge. When measuring, always check that the stretcher frame for you canvas is actually squared up properly by measuring at 3 points for height and width (eg top, middle and bottom of the height) They should all be within a mm of each other. Also, ensure that you give us the measurement at the widest point. Please bear in mind that quite often, when a canvas is stretched, the corners tend to 'bulk out with the folded material, and that this is often the widest point.
All measurements are internal. We make frames to fit the size you give us. So, an A4 frame will be made to fit an item that is A4 in size (297mm x 210mm).
Please see here for more detailed instructions on measuring.
• When I buy a frame, what do I get for my money?
The frame includes acrylic glazing or glass, MDF backing board and hanging fixings. We can vary this configuration upon request.
Once received, you will need to put your artwork inside the frame and attach the hanging fixings which will take you a few minutes only.
• Does the frame come with glass?
The frame will be supplied with high quality acrylic safety glazing as standard.
You can order glass as an option for any frame up to 610mm x 610mm by using the Frame and Mount Design Studio,
click on option 6 "Choose Glazing".
• I don't want any glazing
No problem. Go to the Frame and Mount Design Studio,
click on option 6 "Choose Glazing", and select "No Glazing" - the price will be adjusted accordingly.
• What's the best way to take the protective film off the acrylic?
To avoid static build up whilst peeling back the film we suggest wiping it first of all with a barely damp cloth.
Also, try to always handle the acrylic by the edges or wear clean, soft cotton gloves.
• How do I clean acrylic glazing?
We would suggest that you do not use any kind of chemical solution on the acrylic, just use a clean soft cloth and wipe over very gently to avoid any scratches.
• Can you send me a sample?
We do offer a sample service if your order is likely to exceed £75. Please contact us to request your sample.
• Can you manufacture frames from mouldings other than those shown on this site?
Yes. We can manufacture frames from just about any moulding available. Why not contact us with your requirements.
• Do the frames stand or hang?
All frames are designed to hang, and fixings are supplied for this purpose. However, if you want a stand for your frame, you may choose one in the Design Studio under Section 6: Options.
• Talk to me about quality!
Every frame we sell is made at our 7,000 ft2 state of the art premises in Cambridgeshire.
We do not import cheap frames from eastern europe or asia and we do not sell plastic frames.
We have the latest computerised equipment and our staff are trained picture framers. We are members of
the Fine Art Trade Guild and pride
ourselves in the high quality of our work. Our major customers include many household names, and our client list
numbers more than 30,000. You are welcome to visit our factory to see for yourself the measures we have put in place to ensure high quality.
• Can I order a custom mount to display more than 1 picture?
We have a large selection of multi-opening mounts online where you may be able to find what you are looking for.
• Do you supply oval mounts and frames?
If you can't find a standard mount we may be able to manufacture it for you. In order to establish a price and feasibility we will need to see a drawing that can be emailed, faxed or posted. to us. This doesn't have to be a great technical drawing but does have to clearly show your proposed layout and dimensions for opening, gaps and borders in millimetres. If you could also indicate colour and preferred style (single mount, double mount, luxury single, or luxury double) that would be helpful. If you also want a frame also then we will need the MLDA number from the web site of the moulding you would like. You can use our Quick Find feature to select this.
Please click here.
• I need a frame and mount larger than the sizes you offer online. Can you help?
The web site is designed to allow frames up to 1220 x 915mm, and mounts up to 1200 x 815mm. If you have a requirement for an item larger than this we may be able to assist.
Please contact us via email stating your requirements (including the MLDA reference number of the preferred frame style from the web site) and we can let you have a price. However, for oversize products such as this you will need to arrange collection as we
do not have the ability to box items of this size.
• Do you supply 'frameless" frames?
Usually, when we hear this term, the customer is looking for a 'clip' frame made up of an MDF back and a piece of glass ground at the edge and supplied
with metal clips that fit around thes egde of the glass and the back. We do not supply this type of frame.
• Do your prices include VAT?
Ordering and payments
All prices on the web site do not include VAT. This is calculated, along with delivery charges, when you add items to
your shopping cart.
• I live in the Channel Islands, and so don't pay VAT
If you live in a VAT-free part of the UK such as the Channel Islands, we can deduct the VAT for you prior to invoicing. However, this
requires some manual intervention at our offices so please contact us prior to placing your
order.
• I've seen the identical frame cheaper elsewhere. Will you match their price?
We are confident that we can beat any genuine price for the same product, sold on the same terms. Let us have the details and we will see what we can do.
• Do you offer discounts for bigger orders?
Yes. We publish a standard discount structure.
• What is your lead time? What if I need the frames in a hurry?
Despatch of all orders is usually made within approx. 5-7 working days. If you have an
urgent requirement we have a priority service available at extra charge, but please contact us before ordering.
If for any reason the timescales cannot be honoured you will be kept informed.
• Can I track my order once it has been despatched ?
For orders that will be delivered by parcel carrier, you will receive an email on day of despatch with a tracking number.
• When do you deliver?
After the goods are manufactured, we despatch using either Royal Mail or our nominated parcel carrier. Mail usually goes 1st class, and parcels are
delivered on a next working day service. The carriers usually deliver between 08:00 and 18:00. Timed deliveries are possible at extra cost - please
contact us to discuss.
• Do you deliver weekends?
We do not offer a weeeknd delivery service (other than Royal Mail) on grounds of cost. However, if you really want the goods delivered
on a Saturday then please contact us to discuss.
• How much do you charge for delivery?
Our delivery charges are calculated and shown when you add your items to the shopping basket, and are based upon destination, weight and size.
The lowest charge we have for most of the UK is around £5.00 + VAT, and the highest is approximately £11.00 + VAT. Orders of value over £300 before VAT
are delivered FOC mainland UK. For offshore destinations and the highlands of Scotland the charge is more expensive, reflecting the costs
imposed upon us by our parcel carriers. Our delivery policy is detailed here
• Do you have a minimum order quantity?
Our web site
No. You can order as little or as much as you like. However, please be aware of our delivery charges.
• Can you cope with very large, regular orders?
The majority of our business is with regular clients from many different business sectors. We have all of the necessary capabilities in place to deal with large regular orders.
• Can I raise a purchase order and pay against invoice?
Yes, if you are a government body, a multi-national company, or another large and trusted institution we may be able to help. Please contact us and let us know your requirements.
• Can I order by telephone?
We work hard to keep our prices as low as possible, and keeping our office staff to a minimum allows us to do this. That said, we try to help where we
can so if you really don't want, or are struggling, to order online then by all means contact us
and we will do it for you.
• Can we have an account?
For businesses and organisations we are happy to discuss terms. Please contact us and let us know your requirements. We do not extend credit to individuals.
• How do I know you have received my order?
We will send you a confirmation email to the address you gave us. This should happen within a few minutes but we have noticed that sometimes
the email can be in people's spam folders - directed there by an over-zealous spam filter. If the email hasn't arrived with you within 6 working hours,
please contact us.
• When will you take payment for goods I have ordered online.
Payment for goods ordered online will be taken on the day of despatch. If for some reason we are unable to despatch your order
within 10 working days we will not charge your card, and you will receive notification from us to that effect.
• What if I want to return goods I have purchased from you?
POLICY
In most cases, your order will have been manufactured especially for you. For this reason we do not offer a refund or exchange policy for goods that are not faulty.
• Are the pictures of the frames on the website a good representation?
Technical matters with this web site
The pictures of the moulding sections have been photographed professionally and colour balanced to ensure accuracy. However, due to variations in batches of moulding
and how colours are displayed on a computer screen we do not offer any colour guarantees.
• What's the best way to find frames on your web site?
The Frame Design Studio is a tool that provides a mock-up of a frame to provide you with as close to a true picture as we can achieve with modern technology. However, although the sections of wood used to build these mock-ups have been professionally photographed, the mock-ups themselves are 'doctored' to provide a more natural representation of the frame under 'normal' conditions. In short, if exact colour match is very important to you, then you should not rely on the images shown on the web site. If you contact us, we may be able to send a sample, depending on order size (see here).
We recommend using the Fast Frame Finder which allows most flexibility but you can
browse frames by material, colour, size, shape and price too by looking at the frames menu on the left - open it now.
• What's the best way to design frames on your web site?
Most people nowadays use our Design Studio
for designing frames and mounts. We also have one for designing mirrors
• The web site doesn't appear to be working properly
This site has been tested using IE6/7 and Mozilla Firefox 2.x on Windows XP and Vista. Many of our customers use Apple Macs without
experiencing any difficulty.
