Types of glass that are used with frames

The type of glass that you use when framing is just as important as the frame itself. Artwork can be damaged when exposed to sunlight, moisture and even air. Ensuring that your artwork is framed professional and properly will ensure the life of your painting or photographs so that you can admire it for years to come.

Some cheaper frames use a clear glass which although it might look like normal glass, it does not protect your artwork from exposure to excessive sunlight.

Most professional framers will be able to tell you about the types of glass that you use with their frames. You want a glass, which is anti glare so that your images don’t look distorted when you are trying to look at them.

In addition, it might be worthwhile getting glass that has some kind of UV protection. This type of glass will prevent your painting or photographs from fading overtime which could potentially devalue your artwork. UV protection coated glass is also made with anti glare so you won’t have to worry about your art work not looking its best once you have had it mounted into a frame and put on the wall for display.
