Simple but important tips for mounting wooden photo frames

January 25, 2010
Posted in Photo Frames — Written by Jack

Wooden photo frames have been popular for many years now, and suit most types of photos. However, when you’re framing your photos, you should follow a few helpful tips.

• If you are mounting your photo on to a mat, you should use acid free products, in order to prevent any reversible damage to the photo.

• When you place your photo in the frame, ensure that the picture sits comfortably in it, in order to prevent creases or folds.

• You should choose suitable hinges, such as T or V shaped styles. T hinges are a good multi purpose option, whereas V hinges are good for more pronounced edges.

• When your hinges are in place you should use a firm hinging tape. This is a good way to keep your picture centred on the mat and prevent any movement.

• Use photo corners if your picture has a natural border already. This can reduce the chances of damage to your photo.

Keep these tips in mind and remember to take your time and be careful when you are mounting photos in wooden photo frames.
