Selecting the right frame

February 24, 2010
Posted in Picture Frames — Written by Jack

Most people don’t have a clue when it comes to selecting a frame. Some people blindly pick a frame without even considering how their art is going to look once it has been hung on the wall in its new frame. Getting the wrong frame can affect your artwork and will not show it off to its best advantages.

If you have a modern piece of art, photograph or print, then a contemporary type of frame would be perfect. Most contemporary frames are quite plain, which is perfect to make your artwork stand out and be centre stage. In comparison, traditional frames tend to be quite ornate and decorative. Similarly, different styles of artwork, particularly watercolour or acrylic art should be framed different because of the different style of the artwork.

Depending on the colours that have been used in your piece of artwork, will affect what colour of frame that you can go for. You will need to consider this when selecting your frame.

It may seem like you have a lot to remember when it comes to framing your art but it will be worthwhile when it is hung on the wall.
