Preventing damage by heat, moisture or sunlight

May 20, 2010
Posted in Picture Mounts — Written by Adam

Frames and mounts should always be used when you are looking to have an item put on display in your home or office. Simply sticking a photograph onto a wall, or trying to tack your favourite poster onto the wall might offer a solution for the here and now, but in the longer term, your photograph or poster is going to become tatty and look untidy.

In order to ensure the longevity of your posters and photographs, it would be wise to seek the services of a professional framer who can assist you in having your items properly mounted and framed. This will ensure that once they have been hung on the wall, they not only look their best, but they are protected from becoming damaged by dirt and moisture as well as sunlight.

Heat, sunlight and moisture cause the most damage to artwork so it is always important to have anything framed by a professional. They will be able to ensure that your artwork does not come into contact with any dirt or dust. In addition, when you are hanging your new piece of artwork, be sure not to place it directly over a radiator or fire place that emits a large amount of heat or in direct sunlight as these can all cause serious damage.
