Hanging your art

March 8, 2010
Posted in Picture Frames — Written by Ryan

When it comes to hanging your child’s latest drawing or certificate or hanging that piece of art that has been sitting in the spare room for forever since you had to framed, you need to make sure you have the right type of nails to secure it to the wall.

Most framers will put a hanging string on the reverse of the picture frame so that you can easily hang it on the wall and ensure that it is straight and level with ease. Some picture frames come with some sort of attachment so that you can screw it flat to the wall. In most instances, having it hung properly on the wall will ensure that your artwork looks its best.

Picture hooks are advisable the best tool you can use when hanging a picture. Making sure it is screwed or nailed securely into the wall before hanging your art is essential. The last thing you want to happen is for your frame to fall and break because the picture hook wasn’t strong enough. Picture hooks come in a range of different sizes to cope with different sizes of artwork.

If you have a picture rail in your home, then why not utilise it. In period homes, picture rails are common and it can look elegant with a beautiful painting hanging from it.
