Finding perfect picture frames

November 26, 2009
Posted in Picture Frames — Written by Jack

Picture frames come in many different colours, sizes, shapes and materials so choosing the best one to suit your needs is very important. When choosing a picture frame, it can be quite challenging to select the one that will perfectly complement the picture or photo as well as the interior design of your home.

You must take accurate measurements of the artwork that you are looking to display, because standard sizes can vary. Putting pictures into ill-fitting frames leads to cropping of the image and some of the effect is lost. If your image is of an irregular size, it may be worth looking for a custom-made made frame for it. Remember, if you want to fix the picture to a mount, make sure that your margins aren’t too fine and that they allow room for attachments.

Deciding on the style of the frame entirely depends upon the space you will be filling with it. For instance, intricate wooden photo frames appear out of place in minimalist contemporary settings. By the same dint, large picture frames will overcrowd smaller spaces. Black picture frames, with elegant but understated designs are probably the best option those who are uncertain about their colour scheme.
