Display your photography using photo frames

Photo frames are a common sight in most homes, and have been for many years. However, simply purchasing any old photo frames is not the best way to go about choosing them. Good photo framing requires a little skill, patience and the right type of framing equipment.

Mat boards are one of the most basic photo framing supplies that you will need for framing your photos. The main purpose for using a mat board is that they offer a sturdy backing for your photographs. You can attach your photos to the mat board using self adhesive photo corners. This will enable you to fix the photo on the mat board without using an adhesive.

Most photo framing kits include photo corners, mat boards and photo frames. You will need an extra piece of matting to put on the top of the photograph. This achieves two things; it adds an attractive border to your photograph and prevents the photograph’s surface from touching the glazing material.

If you do not want your photographs to turn brittle and discoloured, it is important to use acid-free matting materials. Glazing is often made from clear plastic, acrylic or glass. The main function of glazing is to guard and protect the photograph from dust and direct sunlight.

If your photos are not a standard size, you could consider opting for custom photo frames. So, if you want to display your photography attractively, choose photo frames carefully.
