Coloured frames for black and white artwork

May 9, 2010
Posted in Photo Mounts — Written by Amelia

Coloured frames look fantastic when they are paired with the right type of artwork, however, if you choose badly, it can lead to your artwork not looking its best.

Coloured frames are best left for black and white photographs, prints and certain types of paintings. Coloured frames do not look great when are paired with brightly coloured pieces of artwork because they clash with the artwork and can detract the eye from looking at the piece itself. The last thing you want is for you not to notice what is inside the artwork.

Coloured frames come in a wide range of different colours and styles so you can match up the right kind for your black and white print or photograph. You can choose from either a contemporary coloured frame or something a little more traditional if you’d prefer. Contemporary frames look absolutely fantastic when they are teamed with black and white photographs, especially modern looking family photographs.

Whatever type of coloured frame you choose, your professional framer will ensure that you have the correct size for your artwork as well as an appropriate mount which compliments and enhances the artwork.
