Coloured frames

March 16, 2010
Posted in Picture Frames — Written by Ryan

Coloured picture frames are generally not used very often because it can be difficult to match the right coloured frame with certain types of artwork. Coloured picture frames are mostly used to frame photographs which are typically black and white.

Coloured picture frames unfortunately do not compliment every type of artwork and often coloured frames can distract the eye from the artwork itself. This is why many people choose to have neutral frames made from wood or metal when it comes to their framing needs. In some cases wooden frames are painted white or black but many people choose not to deviate from this tried and tested method.

If you have some prints, postcards and photographs which you think would look great in a coloured frame, speak to your professional framer. Coloured picture frames are great for adding a splash of colour into a home as long as it is done in the right way. Your professional frame will be able to give you advice about what types of frame to go for and which colours to use for your particular pieces. By seeking advice you are avoiding any regrets you may have from choosing the frames yourself.
