Choosing your mount

June 12, 2010
Posted in Picture Mounts — Written by Ryan

Mounts are often forgotten about when it comes to framing artwork but they should always be considered, regardless of what you might be framing. Any professional framer will tell you how important a mount is and that it is vital you consider having one inside your frame to ensure that your artwork is protected at all times. Mounts stop the glass inside the frame from touching the artwork.

Mounts help to guide the eye towards the item that has been put inside the frame and assists the frame is showing off the artwork to its full advantage. You want your artwork to look its best whilst it is inside the frame and this can be easily achieved when you use a mount when framing.

Your professional framer will be able to assist you in choosing the correct type of mount to go with your frame. Mounts are available in a range of colours, sizes and widths so that they can be matched up with a wide range of artwork.

You will be really surprised at how much a mount can transform any otherwise plain looking piece of artwork inside a frame.
