Choosing picture frames and mounts tastefully

Choosing picture frames for your artwork and pictures is an easy proposition. It is important that you do this carefully and tastefully. Listed below are a few things that you should keep in mind when choosing picture frames and mounts.

The mount:
It is important that you choose a mount that is an appropriate colour to bring out the best in your photo without clashing with the frame. Ivory and cream are common choices, with ivory helping to bring out the highlights of black and white photos effectively.

Play: You should play around with the options available to you. Test and see using various combinations, which mount combined with which frame will work best with the picture.

Colour: You need to be careful when choosing the colour of the picture frame as well. Lighter coloured picture frames open up the picture and make it appear larger than it is. Dark coloured picture frames in contrast are known to turn your focus more inward. Black picture frames draw the viewer in.

Frame material: The material of the frame is another consideration. If you have a beautiful painting, you can choose an elaborate wooden frame with intricate designs or a metal frame for a simple yet elegant look.
