Regular eFRAME customers may want to take advantage of the My Gallery facility within the eFRAME Studio. This killer app allows you to store the detailed specification of one or more frames to be readily accessed and used again in the future. There’s no limit to how many frame or mount specs you can keep. Some of our customers who order frequently confirm this is a big time-saver for them!

Use the green Add to Gallery buttons in the studio to store your specs, and view your stored specs under the blue My Gallery button. Just think what you could be doing with the time you’ll save!

Traditionally, picture frames have usually been glazed with glass – now though, modern acrylic technology is good enough to replicate the optical performance of glass. eFrame buy the best, so our acrylic (technically called PMMA) showcases your artwork brilliantly from the day you unwrap it to years hence! And it’s lighter, safer and better for us to send via couriers.

But the choice is yours – glass is also available as an option, as is no glazing at all if you need access to the framed artwork. Home and professional picture framers can choose the glazing of their choice with eFrame – and with over 600 mouldings, a myriad of mountboard finishes and colours… the possibilities are almost limitless!

Picture frames are one of those woodworking projects that we all assume we know how to make. After all, a frame is only four pieces of wood mitered together – isn’t it? And there’s a piece of glass of course, along with the mat and something behind it. Framing is actually a specialty within woodworking, and the people who do it all the time have it pretty well figured out. This article will review the basics so you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

via Making Frames | Popular Woodworking Magazine.

Of course, if all this sounds too much like hard work and faff, that’s because it is! And we know, but we’ve become pretty good at it over the years. So if you don’t fancy making your own frames, then give us a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Check out our top ten framing tips...

1. WIDE BORDERS GIVE A MODERN TOUCH

To give your work a contemporary feel, consider using wide-mount borders and a flat, featureless frame moulding. Wide borders are very popular nowadays. They give the artwork visual ‘breathing space’ and tend to draw the viewer’s eye toward the picture.

2. BIG BOTTOMS ADD BALANCE

Use a slightly wider bottom mount border to provide a better balance of your image within the mount. However, proceed with caution – too large and the overall effect will be the opposite to what’s intended, making the image unbalanced. Most professionals would add just 3 or 4mm.

3. CONSIDER DOUBLE MOUNTS

Add a luxury feel to your framed artwork by the subtle use of two mounts of the same colour, a deep bottom mount and a standard-depth top mount. The 3-D effect this gives should not be under-estimated; it’s a technique favoured by major publishing houses to enhance their prints.

4. GROOVES LOOK V. CLASSY!

A V-groove in the mount is a good way to provide a classic feel to your framing.

5. EMPHASISE YOUR LAYOUTS

Varying the widths of your mount borders can emphasise the layout of your artwork. For a portrait piece, use wider top and bottom borders. Similarly, wider sides can greatly enhance a landscape.

6. ACCENTUATE HIGHLIGHTS

Pick out highlight colours in your work with an appropriately coloured bottom mount in a double-mount set.

7. USE PROTECTIVE BARRIERS

If your image is on paper, use a barrier board behind the painting to protect it from any harmful effects. Use a mount to keep the paper surface away from the glazing.

8. ONE FRAME FITS ALL

If you have a series of related images, a multi-opening mount can provide an attractive and cost-effective alternative to multiple frames. These can usually be custom-made to fit the layout you wish so you don’t have to be constrained by restrictive designs.

9. BLACK IS BACK

Black core mounts look great with black and white artwork. When a black core mount is cut, the resulting bevel provides a pleasing thin black line to border the image. This looks effective with a plain black frame.

10. CAST YOUR ‘NET WIDE

Some quality framing companies provide interactive websites so you can design your own frames. Some even allow you to upload your own digital image.

It is always a great idea to have your artwork framed to brighten up the inside of your home. As long as you get a professional to do this for you, you can be assured it will be done to the highest standard.

Having your artwork framed professionally is an absolute must if you want it to be safe from damage.

Picture frames serve 2 main purposes – to enhance the look of your artwork and also to protect and preserve it. Here are some of the things that can damage your artwork:

Humidity – If you have your picture framed properly, you can be assured that it will be protected from humidity which can really depreciate the quality of your artwork.

Heat – You must ensure that you do not place your picture near any intense heat source like a radiator, fire and cooking appliances. You must also make sure that you do not place it near windows and sinks.

UV rays – Ultra-violet rays can easily damage your artwork when it is placed in direct sunlight. Therefore, make sure it is not near any windows.

Dust and dirt – Perfect fitting frames for your picture will ensure that no dust and dirt will be able to enter and cause damage to your artwork.

Mounting pictures on the wall can really bring a home to life, although in order to keep them looking their best for as long as possible, it’s vital that they are framed in the correct manner.

Failing to frame your picture properly could not only immediately ruin its look, but could also contribute to long term damage.

Framing plays a huge part in protecting your picture from damage. Some of the key causes of damage to pictures are detailed below…

Dust/ Dirt

Well-fitting picture frames go a long way in protecting pictures against dirt and dust, which are key causes of damage.

Sunlight

Exposing your picture to direct sunlight will cause it to fade extremely quickly, so ensure that you mount it in a location where it won’t be affected by direct sunlight.

Humidity and heat

Whilst a good frame can help to protect your picture from the damaging effects of humidity and heat, you should also refrain from mounting it close to radiators, fires, windows, sinks and cooking appliances.

Bear these damaging factors in mind, and enhance the effectiveness of your picture frame.

Fortunately, given the right things, pictures and artwork can be preserved for many years. The first thing you need to do however, is take your artwork to a professional framer. He or she will ensure it is framed to the highest standard and can also include a mount for that extra bit of protection.

However, even after your artwork has been framed you must ensure that you do not place it anywhere near direct sunlight because ultra-violet rays can cause damage. You must also make sure that you don’t hang your artwork near any source of intense heat like an open fire. This can also cause some serious damage to your picture.

You should always wear gloves when handling your artwork because the natural oils from your hands can possibly damage some pieces of artwork over time.

Mounts are also available for you to purchase online in the UK if you would like some more protection against any potential damage that may occur. Glazing will be included so no moisture will be able to build up inside.

It is always a good idea to get your precious photographs framed to ensure they are protected and preserved for a long time.

However, you must put some serious consideration into which frame you want, as the wrong picture frame can really ruin the look of your photograph. Make sure you do not rush into your purchase.

To add to this, there are a couple of other no-no’s when it comes to picture framing:

One thing you must always try to avoid is a clash of colours. Since contemporary picture frames come in a wide array of colours, you need to make sure the colours in your artwork do not clash with those of the picture frame.

Furthermore, you must ensure that you take accurate measurements of your artwork to guarantee your chosen frame fits perfectly. A frame that is not the correct size can really depreciate the look of your artwork.

Picture frames have been in use for as long as anyone cares to remember, and they are now available in many different shapes, shades, styles and sizes.

Many people consider picture framing to be a relatively simple task, although more often than not, it’s a lot trickier than it looks. Unless you’ve framed endless pictures, and consider yourself a dab hand at framing pictures in a manner which would put the experts to shame, it’s always a good idea to hire a professional.

The services of a professional picture framer are very affordable, and for the benefits which you can enjoy, you get more than your money’s worth.

A professional framer will ensure that your picture is framed to the highest possible standards, which will result in your picture looking amazing for years to come.

Unsuccessfully attempting to frame your picture yourself could also be extremely time consuming, although when you opt to hire a professional picture framer they will take care of all of the hard work for you.

In short, professional picture framers will frame your piece in a way which simply can’t be achieved by those without such expertise.

The picture framing procedure may seem like a quick and easy process for many people, although when you have very little experience, it can be deceptively difficult.

If you’ve been thinking of framing a picture, and have finally got round to giving it some serious thought, the first thing which you need to do is choose a suitable frame.

After sifting through the many different styles of frames on the market and settling on a suitable style, you then need to seek the perfect mount. The importance of a mount shouldn’t be overlooked, as in addition to framing your picture in the most beautiful way possible, it will also help to keep the picture safe from damage.

Once you have invested in a frame and mount, your hard work is then over, as you can take all three items to a professional picture framer, who will ensure that your picture is framed to the highest standards possible.

Professional picture framers are fully knowledgeable on the best ways of frame your individual piece, so you won’t need to worry about ruining the picture by attempting to frame it yourself.

Whether you have a stunning piece of artwork or a personal photograph which you’re looking to frame, once you have completed the relatively easy task of choosing a frame, you then need to start thinking about the actual framing process itself.

Lots of people attempt to frame pictures themselves, only to find that they later regret making this move. Placing a picture in a frame may look relatively easy, but when you’re not fully knowledgeable about the entire process, the tools needed and how to frame a picture in the best way possible, you could be looking at a very disappointing end result.

This is why more and more people are realising just how indispensible professional picture framers are. Whatever the value, sentimental value or age of the picture which you’re looking to frame, hiring the services of a professional picture framer will not only help to ensure that the picture is framed in the most accurate and most beautiful manner possible, but will also keep it safe from everyday damage.

Pictures can really make a house a home, and whatever your personal preferences, finding a picture which you love and which will also enhance the look of your home should be fairly straightforward.

Once you have found a picture, you then have the task of finding a frame. There are many frames from which you can choose nowadays, in all manner of sizes and shades, and you should invest just as much effort into choosing a frame as you would in choosing a picture, as it can really make or break its look.

After choosing a frame, the best course of action is to then look for a professional picture framer. Whilst many people attempt to frame their pictures themselves, they later find themselves regretting it.

Picture framing might look simple, but it is deceptively tricky, and making even a small mistake could ruin the look of the picture and the frame.

By enlisting help from professional picture framers, you can be sure that your picture will be framed to the highest possible standards, will be protected from dust and dirt and will look amazing for many years to come.

We all need to change the look of our home from time to time in order to freshen it up, and the good news is that you don’t have to spend lots to make a visible change.

The ways in which the walls in your home are decorated can have a huge impact on its overall look, and leaving your walls plain can really bring down the look of a room.

One way of giving your room a fresh new look is by investing in artwork. Artwork is no longer extremely expensive, and whether you prefer your pictures classic or modern, you will be able to find pieces which suit your budget and suit your tastes.

Looking for artwork online is a great idea, as you get the opportunity to browse thousands of different pieces completely at your own pace- and all from the comfort of your own comfort.

Once you have chosen your artwork, you should then get to work on deciding on the best location to hang it. Make sure that pictures are given a prominent location in order to show them off to their fullest.

Opting for the services of a professional picture framer should then be your next step. Professional picture framers can frame your artwork perfectly at very reasonable rates, which makes them a must.

When you’ve just invested in a new picture for your home or office you will then need to start thinking about how you’re going to frame it properly.

As picture framing looks like a fairly simple process, many people think that they will be able to complete the process themselves, although more often than not this isn’t the case.

Choosing a frame which perfectly suits your picture can be a tricky task in itself, and framing your photo can also present many problems in itself.

In addition to ensuring that the frame is correctly fitted, you also need to ensure that the mount is secure. Failing to properly mount your photo can really ruin the look of even the most beautiful picture, and attempting to frame the piece yourself could also lead to unsightly and permanent damage to the picture.

This is why it’s always best to leave the job to the professionals, as they have all of the necessary expertise and tools to frame your picture perfectly.

Professional picture framers are a much safer alternative to unsuccessfully framing your photo yourself.

Opting for the services of professional picture framers certainly isn’t a new concept, although they are still as popular today as they have ever been.

There are many benefits to be had by opting for a professional picture framing service rather than attempting to do the job yourself, with one of the most important being reducing the risk of damage.

Although picture framing may look like a relatively easy procedure, it can actually be rather tricky if you’re not 100% sure of what you’re doing. If you attempt to frame a picture yourself without all of the necessary tools and knowledge, you could risk damaging your picture beyond repair.

In addition to causing immediate damage, failing to frame your picture properly could also cause damage further down the line, as a frame which isn’t firmly fitted will allow dirt and dust to negatively affect the look of the picture.

Taking your precious picture to a professional will also save you a great amount of time, and with so many people leading such busy lifestyles nowadays, this is a major bonus.

Professional picture framers should be your first and only choice.

Picture framing can be a tricky task at the best of times, and it’s even trickier when the picture is on the larger side.

Many people wrongly believe that framing even large pictures will be a relatively easy task, and then attempt to frame it themselves. This often leads to disaster though, so rather than taking this risk it’s best to head straight for a professional.

You can still have a little control over the picture framing process though, as you might not need professional assistance when it comes to choosing a frame. Provided you know the exact measurement of your picture and the style of frame which will best enhance its’ beauty, you can fully immerse yourself in the frame purchase process.

Once you have chosen a frame and mount, you can leave all of the hard work to the professionals. Professional picture framers are fully trained on the best ways of framing large photos in a safe and effective manner.

Having your photo expertly framed will help to keep it safe from dirt, dust, damage and general wear and tear, so it will look amazing for many years to come.

When you have a treasured photo which you’re thinking of displaying on the wall, it goes without saying that you will want to frame it in the best way possible so that its beauty is enhanced even further.

Many people think that framing pictures is a simple process, and whilst it can be if you’re using an amateur frame, this certainly isn’t the case when it comes to achieving a stylish and professional look.

Attempting to frame your picture yourself could have disastrous consequences, and you could cause irreversible damage. This is why it’s always best to opt for the services of a professional framer, as you can rest assured that your picture is in good hands.

Professional framers will carefully assess the size and condition of your picture and frame it accordingly, and if you are unsure about the best style of frame for your photo they can also assist you with the selection process.

Having your picture professionally framed could also save you money, as you won’t need to invest in all of the framing equipment yourself.

These are just a few of the reasons why professional picture framers really are indispensible.

Re-framing your favourite picture can not only help to transform the look of the picture, but can also assist in transforming the wall of which you choose to display it, which makes choosing the right frame extremely important.

Many people think that picture framing is a simple process, and it can be if you know exactly what you’re looking for. On the other hand, if you don’t have a clear idea of the frame you need, you could find things a little trickier.

However, you can make things that extra bit easier by bearing a few things in mind before making that all important purchase.

Size of the frame

This is one of the most things to bear in mind. Ensure that you measure your picture accurately, as a frame of the wrong size will look awful and could damage your picture.

Colour of the frame

Picture frames are available in an endless variety of different colours nowadays, although choosing an unsuitable shade could ruin the look of your picture, so choose carefully.

The framing process

Once you’ve chosen a suitable frame and mount, you then need to start thinking about the framing process itself. Framing pictures can be difficult if you’re not experienced in the practice, so choosing a professional picture framer is your best choice.

Bear these things in the mind and frame your picture beautifully.

When it comes to framing that special picture, confusion can set in extremely quickly. As many modern pictures come pre-framed, many people are complete novices when it comes to the picture framing procedure, and it can be difficult to know where to start.

Below are a few important features of picture framing which you
should bear in mind…

Size

Choosing a picture frame of the correct size is of extreme importance, as a frame which is too large or too small could ruin the look of even the most beautiful picture. Ensure that you know the exact measurements of the picture.

Colour

Frames are available in just about every colour imaginable nowadays, so think about the colours in your picture in order to avoid a clash.

Mount

As well as the actual frame, you also need to carefully consider the mount which you choose. Some people believe that the use of a mount isn’t essential, although it can go a long way in protecting your picture and ensuring it is framed in the best way possible.

Opting for a professional picture framing service is always the best choice for those who want the highest standard of framing.
